Who we are
Bookgard (bookgard.com) is operated by Koskinen IT, Norway. Contact: support@koskinen-it.net. We are the data controller for the processing described here.
What we process
Account data: name, email address and, where applicable, profile picture from the sign-in provider (Clerk, optionally Google sign-in).
Catalogue data: the books a household registers, with location, condition, notes and loan history. Notes fields should not be used for sensitive information.
Borrower data: households may record the name and contact details of people they lend books to. Whoever registers a borrower is responsible for having a basis to do so. Borrowers can request access or deletion at any time via the household or the contact address above.
Technical: strictly necessary cookies for sign-in (Clerk) plus the language and theme choices you make yourself. We use no tracking or advertising cookies — which is why there is no consent banner.
Legal basis
Account data is processed to provide the service (contract, GDPR art. 6(1)(b)). Borrower records rest on the household's legitimate interest in tracking its own loans (art. 6(1)(f)).
Processors
Clerk (authentication), Neon (database, EU region Frankfurt), Vercel (hosting), Google (only when using Google sign-in). Metadata lookups against Open Library, the Norwegian library services (Sikt/BIBSYS) and Google Books send only ISBNs or title/author — never personal data.
Your rights
You can export all data at any time (Export page), request correction or deletion, and lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet). Deletion requests go to the contact address above and are handled within 30 days.
Retention
Data is kept for as long as the household has an account. Backups are retained for up to 90 days.
